ABOUT

THE TREVOR B. POWER BAND

With “Two Crows” marking the fourth release from The Trevor B. Power Band in a remarkably short span, Trevor makes it clear that “music is just a part of my soul.” He laughs, “I wish I would have gotten started recording more seriously sooner,” but adds that life has a way of unfolding exactly when it’s meant to. Now at 63, Power is right where he’s supposed to be.

Following the release of “Are We Ever Free,” Trevor has continued his creative partnership with Dave Fields. “I told Dave, ‘Let me just keep writing and we’ll keep recording,’” Power says - and out of that simple approach came “Two Crows.”

“Dave Fields is so easy to work with,” Power adds. “He’s phenomenal at what he does with my songs.”

The past year has not come without hardship. Power faced the loss of his older brother John, as well as Bobby Whitlock of Derek and the Dominos; both powerful influences and inspirations in his life. Still, he keeps perspective.

“We’re all going to leave this form someday, so let’s make the best of it.”

“I say to myself, you’re a lucky man, don’t pass the time you have left away.”

Surrounded by some of the world’s most talented musicians, Power admits he’s sometimes in disbelief that his songwriting resonates enough to bring them together. Yet together they create, contributing to an art form they hope the world will truly feel and enjoy.

Americana Highways Review by John Apice

So here we have a blues singer with an approach that’s captivating. Yes, it has the creepiness of a vintage blues narrative, slathered in infectious rhythm & percussion, with a voice that’s whiskey-soaked & he didn’t forget to add atmosphere. Oh, the late John Hammond, Jr. would like this…Tom Waits, too…

Bluestown Music NETHERLANDS Review by Harry Radstake

He writes from lived experience, drawing on self-reflection, the quiet weight of everyday struggle, and the emotions that remind us we are all more alike than different. Blues News Switzerland REVIEW

The opener, "Bobby Lane," is a delightful guitar boogie reminiscent of ZZ Top's "La Grange." And other tracks also reveal ZZ Top influences—Trevor B. Power's voice even sounds raspier than Billy F. Gibbons'—while other songs evoke memories of Bob Dylan… read more >>
